Mary Ann Belcher 3x birth/bapts in Berks 1858-59

Hi all,

Can anyone please help with the baptisms/births of these 3 x Mary Ann Belcher.

I'm trying to identify if either or all fit into my tree.

Mary Ann Belcher - born about 1858 West Hanney, Berks - per 1871 census Wantage.
   "      "       "          - birth regis mar ¼ 1859 Wantage Regis dist.
   "      "       "          -    "      "    dec ¼  1859 Wallingford "      "

I'm hoping someone can point me in the right direction. I've looked in the Wantage transcripts also those for the Wallingford dist without any luck and my Hanny records only go to 1812.

From the GRO:

Mary BELCHER Dec qtr 1859 Wallingford has mother's maiden name SMITH
Mary Ann BELCHER Dec qtr 1859 Wallingford - mmn SADLER
Mary Ann BELCHER Mar qtr 1859 Wantage - mmn BRAYNE

There are no Mary Ann's in 1858 registered at Wantage, but there is:
Mary Ann BELCHER Sep qtr 1857 Wantage - mmn GREENAWAY

Do you know the parents at all?

Hi maddys52,

Very grateful to you for the mmn's. The only "greenaway" I have come across is  on the 1851 census West Hanney - Daniel Belcher, Elizabeth, his wife,  and son  Henry Greenaway & a Martha Belcher dau .  I'm assuming that Henry was the illeg. s/o Elizabeth. The parent's names are not known to me which is why I'm trying to find out who is who.

Unfortunately there are a lot of "Belcher's" around and frequently they are baptising them with the same first names.

Did she marry?

You can get her fathers name from the marriage certificate.

Do you know the names of brothers or sisters to narrow it down?

What information do you have about your Mary Ann, do you have her in a later census?

The Mary Ann who appears in the 1871 census at Wantage, born at West Hanney is probably this one in the 1861 at Back St, West Hanney: (all born West Hanney)

From the births of their children, I think this is Daniel BELCHER and Elizabeth GREENAWAY who married Dec qtr 1846 Wantage (6/495)

(Btw, I also have a Mary Ann BELCHER from this area in my tree, but born c1832  There were a lot around!)

My problem is that I have come across several Mary Ann Belchers 3 of which I listed in my initial post.

Only last night I came across another one - there are so many!!.

1/. Mary Ann born about 1858 Wantage dist. is the d/o Daniel & Eliza (nee Greenaway) mar. 29-11-1846 West Hanney (ex ancy)

2/. Mary Ann born abt 1859 Wantage dist is the d/o J L Belcher & Emma Brayne  mar 1-8-1853 Wandsworth, Surrey

3/. Mary Ann born abt 1859 Wallingford Dist. shows on the 1871 census Wantage age 13 as a servant - no other family listed. (mmn Smith per your reply below).

4/. Mary Ann born abt 1853 Uffington d/o Alfred & Leah

5/. I've also got a Mary Belcher born 1839 Wantage dist. with mmn Warren - Can't find a possible marriage yet.

6/. Also a Mary Ann born 1846 Streatley, Berks d/o Henry & Amy

I think some of these tie up with your comments
