Scanning Old Black and White Negatives's

I have a question concerning scanning old negatives.  The only thing you speak about are color negatives.  What about  old black and white negatives which would be more likely to need to be restored?  Just wondering...

Scanners that have specific negative scanning capabilities are able to scan any type of negative, so long as it fits on the plate. There isn't anything technically different about it.

The only difference with the scanners above listed is that they can automatically remove dust and scratches from colour negs, but not from black and white; due to the different chemicals used in the neg. If you want to clean up black and white negatives, you have to do that in an image editing program like Photoshop or GIMP.
