I am trying to locate the whereabouts of Catherine Donovan on the 1861 census.
In 1851 she is aged 12 and living with her parents Timothy (50) and Ellen (50) in Egremont Street, Brighton.
In 1871 she is aged 32 and living with her husband Bennett Isherwood and their children Ellen ( 8 ), Bennett (6), James (4) and John (2) in St Anne's Lane, Westminster.
I guess it's possible for her to be living with either in 1861.
Having done some research regarding both the addresses she is listed at, it seems she didn't have a good life and lived in the worst slums in the areas. Her and her husband Bennett were hawkers.
I cannot find a marriage record or any birth records for her children either. Is it possible that they were not recorded anywhere, or was it compulsory at this time?
(I have posted a related thread a few days ago, but this is specifically to try and locate CATHERINE on the 1861 census rather than anything else).
