Hi RootsChatters
In the Family tree there is a Walter Rollo, born 8 June 1811 at Letham in the Parish of Monimail, Fife, Scotland, son of Walter Rollo and Catherine Patrick. Walter (1811) and his wife, Catherine Barclay, sailed from Liverpool on the S.S. 'Calhoun' with 9 of their 10 children and arrived in New York on 7 July 1859, one daughter having died in infancy about 1851.
Catherine died on 17 February 1885 and Walter on 3 December 1885 both in Oregon, Dane County, Wisconsin.
There is a death recorded in 1822 for a Walter Rollo in Dane County, Wisconsin (attached) which is a generation earlier than Walter (1811) arrived there. I can't easily find any other details and am wondering if there is any connection.
Do any RootsChatters know what information the Index may give? My guess is - not much. Also, is it likely the 1822 death actually occurred in Dane County or was it just recorded there. Given the scarcity of Walter Rollo's, and if he did actually die in Dane County, it seems unusual that another would turn up there twenty or so years later.
Anyone got any answers?
