Hello lport,

http://scripts.ireland.com/ancestor/surname/index.cfm So far so good. During the period 1848 - 64 (Griffiths Valuation of Ireland) the only parish in Ireland containing both the surnames McDonald and McLaverty was Belfast City.

Certificates of births and deaths (from 1864) and registers of marriages (from 1845) are held by the General Register Office of Northern Ireland (http://www.groni.gov.uk/). You can order your certificate in person, by post, by telephone or by using the secure online ordering system. You can find full details on the GRONI website (http://www.groni.gov.uk/).

Good Luck, Christopher
