Hello Darren. Welcome to RootsChat.
What sort of information are you looking for?

I've asked a moderator to move your request to a new thread where it will attract attention from RootsChatters in general who may be able to help. A few pairs of fresh eyes sometimes turn up things you may not have considered.
The thread on which you have posted is for specific look-ups at Lancashire archives i.e. if there is a document there which you would like someone to look at.

Hi Thanks for getting back, new to this will try post it to general. I think John Tierney my G Granddad died between 1873 and 1881. Would there be a document there to see if it is the same person.
Did find a John Tierney in 1877 died in Preston. Thanks

You shouldn't need to do anything. A moderator will probably split this off and  move it tomorrow to whichever board s/he thinks most appropriate.

The document relating to John Tierney's death is his death certificate. I assume the information you found is from an index to death registrations. The index entry should have age at death. Is this age similar to what you would expect from other information you have on him?
There will not be a document in Lancashire Archives about your ancestor's death unless his death required investigating by a coroner.
Preston Chronicle newspaper had a births, marriages & deaths column. Preston Chronicle is in an online newspaper archive.

Recorded age of John Tierney whose death was registered at Preston 1877 was 39.
Another John Tierney death was 1881 registered in Trinity sub-district, age 46.
(Both on Lancashire BMD)
Age recorded at death wasn't always accurate.

Checked Lancashire BMD for marriage of John Tierney to Bridget. Found only these:
1864 at Bolton, John Tearney, spouse Bridget Tearney.
1874 at Blackburn, John Tierney, spouse Bridget Monea. Monea is a surname I haven't seen before. I wonder if it's something else.
Your John Tierney may have married elsewhere in Britain or in Ireland.

Thanks Dawn. Quick work. Not quick enough though as Darren had already begun a new thread to which people have replied. So there are now duplicate threads.
Edit. I see you're on to it already and have it sorted.
