Robert Crawford - Place of Birth Shetland N.B.

In our family history we have a Robert Crawford on whose death certificate in Bourke, New South Wales, Australia states he was born in Shetland Islands (about 1819 according to age at death). On some of his children's birth certificates his place of birth also reflects Shetland and Scotland, but one in particular states his birth place as "Shetland N. B."

Trying to find out if "Shetland N.B." has any significance.

Particularly in the 19th century, "North Britain" or "N.B." was widely used for postal addresses in Scotland.

Yes that is the Robert Crawford.   It is not a particularly helpful death certificate. Informant was hospital staff - no relation. Parents not known. No marriage details or children listed.

An interesting site.   Although at first glance there is no match to the Robert Crawford I am looking for, I will delve deeper shortly and it may aid research for other lines that came out of Scotland.
