OK, right. I think a Nance Mow is my 11x Great Grandmother. I traced my family tree from my maternal grandmother's line all the way back to Nance who married Andrew Young and had William Young (10x GGrandfather). I'm not sure if you have any information about her?

Sorry to say I have not found a Nance Mow. However, there are various male 'Mows' on the family tree who were younger brothers. We have no more data about them, but if you could give me a rough date for Nance I might be able to suggest where she could have fitted in. Also any idea of location would be a great help, too. Maybe we are (very) distantly related??!!

As far as I know Nance Mow was supposedly to have lived in the Roxburghshire during 1590s and onwards. William Young- her child was born in 1616.

William young was christened 25 Aug 1616 in Kelso parents Nance Mow and Andro Young from Scotlands people ref 10 217
Other children born to Andro and Nance
Margart 30 Sep 1610 Kelso
Andro 16 May 1613 Kelso
Robert 12 Oct 1619 Kelso

Possible marriage between Nanc Mow and Andro Young 5 Nov 1609 Kelso

Good morning, and thanks for your reply. It seems most likely that Nance was the granddaughter of Robert Mow, who is recorded as being a tenant in Mow of the Abbey of Kelso in 1567. This possibility is supported by Nance Mow and Andro Young's marriage taking place at Kelso, and their third child, also named Robert, being born at Kelso in 1619. As for her father's name I cannot help, except to say that the family at that time repeatedly named boys Alexander, James, John or Robert. So much so, indeed, that I was able to find later males on the family tree by searching for any of those names. Hope all this helps!!!
