Publican records 1940's
« on: Thursday 16 August 18 06:23 BST (UK) »
Hi is there a website where I can look up publican records?
The era I am looking at is 1940's NSW.
Ernest Good was the licensee of the Park View Gunnedah during WW2. I am just trying to find a timeline he was there.

Regards
Scot

In 1947 the proprietors were ‘Wicks’:

Thanks Jamjar I think it would be early 1940's. He was in Newtown 1945 running another Wine bar.
I have an enlistment for his Son Reginald enlisting in the Australian Army at Gunnedah 1943 and a identity card for his Daughter at the Park View in 1942.
I have his other Hotel's from the Trove and the Sands directory but the Sands runs out 1933. I just wondered how to fill the 1940's and 1950's.

The nominal roll seems to have his enlistment at Paddington NSW.   He was born in NSW less than 100 years ago.

Ryerson has Reginald John's notice indexed as Daily Telegraph 18 Dec 2012.

I wonder if Gunnedah RSL sub-branch has info about him or his dad?

Thanks JM my mistake sorry. Reg's place of enlisted was  Paddington but the locality on enlistment was Gunnedah.

It might be worth a shot contacting the Gunnedah Rsl.

Family legend has it his Father went to Gunnedah during WW2 ran the Park View and made  a fortune during the war.

Yes that is him. A well known incident happen with him a year earlier with a razor gang member.
He got off but he was paid to shut up his business.
That starts  my blackout of what happened to him after 1937.
