All I know that he was at various prisons across the country at Shelton mallet in the 1911 census he went to Wandsworth prison after
He died in Wandsworth 1947 I believe
So 1907 to 1915 Shelton mallet??
And 1915 to 1930 st Wandsworth

Okay. Do you know where he married his wives, and where any children were born or where those family members died? That would give you clues about his movements, and thus the prisons he served in.
He was awarded the I.S.M. (Imperial Service Medal - awarded on retirement for serving 25 years or more) on 10th Feb 1922. This was recorded in the Edinburgh Gazette for Feb 21 1922 (
www.thegazette.co.uk).
He is listed as; Saunders, Henry John, Chief Warder, Class 1, H.M.Prison Wandsworth.
So he probably isn't in the prison staff photo I have for 1922. I have another one from Oct 1921 but he might have left before that as well.
Stuart Wood in his book "Shades of the Prison House" [pub.1932] mentions his incarceration in Shepton Mallet Prison in 1909, and gives passing mention to the Chief Warder - who might be your man.
