Hi all, tracing my other half's tree and I've come to a dead stop. This is all I have so far, but I spent an hour or two in the library yesterday trying to locate people on census and 1939, but with no luck - possibly just me though, been away from this for a long time.
I am looking for a marriage of a George Pontin(g), and Eliza "Kitty" Ainscow.
I only have their names from Reginald's birth certificate, and Eliza's nickname of Kitty from the family. The birth certificate doesn't give a full address unfortunately, but it is Port Talbot/Aberavon.
The children were as follows - BMD seem to confirm the spellings of the surnames in each case:
Reginald Pontin - 1913
Florence - 1914
George H - 1915
Elizabeth A - 1918
Reginald believed that the Pontin name should have been Ponting, so his daughter (still living) had that spelling.
I have one potential (probable) match for George senior in the censuses, born c1892 in Aberdare, and there are two birth records that would support that (1892 and 1897 in merthyr district), but his wife is showing as Esther - I'm not ruling out that Eliza wasn't her birth name as I've had this issue in the past, but I can't find a marriage for a pontin/ponting to an ainscow (or ainscough in case it was spelt incorrectly) with the matching christian names.
I'm also struggling to find a birth for eliza with so little information.
I'd assume (whether correctly or not) that the marriage would be around the South Wales area, but I can't seem to find anything. I obviously want the marriage cert to confirm their parents and hopefully move back a generation.
I know you lovely lot will find the obvious record that I have blindly missed....
