Had a brief look at this old English writing - seems to be talking about two daughters, the younger being Abigail?  ? two Sonnes (S like like F's) - Thomas & John

There is also a Will on Ancestry for a John ENRICHE 1567 - of Ashleworth.

Ancestry also has the in the Section: England & Wales, Prereogative Court of Canterbury Wills -

William ALLARD 30 August 1653 - of Ashleworth - which is much clearer to read - and does mention a daugher Ann ELRIDGE.

Hi Laura

Not everyone here who could help has an Ancestry account so we have a deciphering board for instances such as this

http://www.rootschat.com/forum/handwriting-deciphering-recognition/

or you could have posted a snip on the Gloucestershire 'general' board.

Images aren't allowed on any of the look-up request boards.

Men in Armour for Gloucestershire 1608

http://www.coaley.net

ASHLEWORTH

William ALLARD - yeoman - A20 (age around 20) lower stature

Thomas ELLRIDGE - husbandman - A40 (age around 40 c1568) -
Tallest stature.  trained.  has one corslet furnished

Richard ELRIDGE - yeoman - A40
Tallest stature.  subsidy man.  **

Richard ELRIDGE - husbandman - A20
Tallest stature.  subsidy man.  **

John ELRIDGE -  Weaver - A40
Tallest stature.  trained.  has a corslet furnished.

---

** googling it appears a subsidy man - was rich enough to pay towards the requirements of the conflict, but not able or willing to go to the battle himself.

If you look at all the men in Ashleworth

3  Ellridge men each have a servant.

William LANE to Richard etc etc

---

? Are their any graves/memorial inscriptions in Ashleworth Church as they seem to be a reasonably wealthery family

---

Looking at the Gloucestershire Genelogicala Database there is also a Will of Thomas ELRYGE - 1587, Ashleworth.

Thankyou so much for your replies, yes they do seem to be a wealthy family and you can tell from one WILL that ensured their daughter married another man of money, his WILL talks mainly about the family of his daughter. It seems to be the Elridges,Wilcockes and Hayes. Once again thankyou. I will go and look for graves in ashleworth now

Maybe ask for this thread to be moved to the deciphering board and post a reply attaching the image?

Hi Folks,
I have been searching my Westbury family in UK for the past several weeks, I have communicated with philipsearching back a week or so, ... Anyway I have got back to 1756 with Henry Westbury's birth, but cannot confirm this, the location in the UK and/or his parents.....?  So far I have the following Henry Westbury was born around 1756 somewhere in England, he marries Mary Page 1780 in Highworth Wiltshire, he died 1834 Eastleach Turville, Gloucestershire, England. Can someone please assist me to find Henry's birth place, who his parents were etc. Kind regards Grahame Westbury
