Jack and Doreen Goode nee Howis
« on: Saturday 22 September 18 07:38 BST (UK) »
My aunt Doreen audrey Howis was in the land army during the war around yaxley I believe, she married a Jack Goode in whittlesley in 1948 and had a daughter in 1940's in wisbech. I know little of this branch of our tree as I was a child when aunt Audrey died, I wondered if anyone has come across this side of the Goode family or knows any local resources where I could post or look.

Hopefully the 1949 birth is still living and unless you know otherwise you should remove her name from your subject title and your post

I don't know if she is or not, we never met, so have amended as suggested. Jack and Audrey are deceased.

My aunt died in Hampshire in 1972, her ex husband i have been told by family, died in the Midlands in the mid 80s, about 85. I was more interested in tieing down the wartime history, if she was in Peterborough because of land army posting, if they met through working on the same farm in yaxley. I know they spent time in Rotherham and lowestoft and possibly leicester. I don't think either returned to Peterborough post divorce, but this whole generation has now deceased so it's hard to get background.

Does the marriage certificate give any information on their occupations and abodes or do you have this information from the 1939 register.

I only have entry from the bmd search, not got certificate. My mum visited and helped out on the farm and believed from memory it was yaxley and Jack was a farm hand, who also had a brother working with him. My aunt married again had another daughter and worked for cunard. I believe Jack also remarried, and they raised his daughter together.

Thank you, Alice was my grandmother, my mum was the third daughter of four, Audrey was the first. She left Rotherham to do farm work in Peterborough, and married at  18. This marriage broke down and she married again in 1958. Family history is a bit vague in her time in Peterborough, I was hoping a link up to a goode family tree would clarify.
