Help a newbie decypher this christening record
« on: Monday 01 October 18 21:32 BST (UK) »
Hello from a newbie; trying to ascertain dates on this christening record.  The individual, Daniel Hall, was recorded with a birth date of Jul/Aug/Sep 1862, but the church record (LHS, 4th row) has the christening as July 4th 1867.  There's additional info about birth date in the 1st column but I can't decypher it.  It seems unusual for baptism to be done so late.

As far as I can make out from the records I have the parents' names tie up, and the DoB ties in with census records,  so it's definitely the right individual.  Can anyone shed any light?

I hope I've provided the correct info; let me know if I need to post anything else. Be kind - I'm new to this!

Daniel

Welcome to Rootschat

Not that unusual for christenings to be years after a birth.  Can’t work the actual birthdate out though

The 1862 birth was Daniel Spencer Hall but record above is just Daniel

1862 birth has mothers maiden name as Spencer

Charles Hall and Amelia Spencer married 1849 Norwich

Does Daniel’s marriage cert confirm his father was Charles?

He was REGISTERED 3 quarter, so the reality is his birth date could have been 2 quarter ( April/May/June) or July/Aug/Sept of the 3 quarter .... can't tell what it says apart from 13th. Not unusual for children to be baptised later even years later

He was REGISTERED 3 quarter, so the reality is his birth date could have been 2 quarter ( April/May/June) or pre 4 July of the 3 quarter ( as he was baptised 4th July).... can't tell what it says apart from 13th

Daniel Hall, was recorded with a birth date of Jul/Aug/Sep 1862, but the church record (LHS, 4th row) has the christening as July 4th 1867.

The first one might have died!

Yes I changed it as soon as I realised and yes of course there may be another born earlier who died
