Thank you Carol,AVM.Phillip and Lily for taking the time and trouble to help me. I have lots to go on now, I think that William did die in 1901[will get death cert. to confirm] if this is so maybe there was no marriage between Elizabeth and him  and Elizabeth just called herself his wife. Anyway thanks again
