My 1st cousin, once removed aged 90 has tested with Ancestry and I am managing the results. The test has come back 100% Irish, however both his father, mother and grandfather were born in England. Whats that all about??
Anyway, when I look at the Regions suggested, one is Galway which I know is correct from research as they are our Dal(e)y and Grealy lines, but there is another choice which just says Connacht. I would really like to know where our Cunninghams (he is a Cunningham) come from and I presume from this result, that it will be Connacht. Why does Ancestry use 'Connacht' as a region description? It would appear to be a very wide spread area in the West of Ireland? NOT very helpful to me!
I would really appeciate some guidance. Thanks, Kit
