John GORTON and family
« on: Saturday 20 October 18 04:43 BST (UK) »
Hi

I am trying to trace John GORTON bpt 1707 in Newton Regis.  His parents were John GORTON and Elizabeth - no further information about them is known.

John junior married Anne - date and place unknown.

He and Anne had 2 children that I know of - Anne bpt 1732 and John bpt 1741 - both in Newton Regis.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

thanks

Hello
John Gorton Senior's Will of 1729
Gives bequests to his wife and two children Elizabeth and John.
The Will is on FindMyPast or at Stafford Archives.
John junior's Will 1763 says his estate is called Greenwoods.
Daughter Ann to get £400 and son John estate.
There is a nephew Thomas Holden
Alice Eggington wife of Thomas gets £5

The parents marriage is 28th august 1690 to Elizabeth Sowe (original looks like Power)by licence
He is from Newton and she is from Chorley Staffs widow
They seem to have married at Lichfield were her surname is given as Power

It looks like John senior was baptised 22.3.1663 s of Richard and Ann Gorton.
Sister Elizabeth 1656.

Richard s of John bapt 11.4.1625 Will for Richard  1669/70.But for some reason it's not appearing on FindMyPast.
Marriage at Grendon to Anne Hull 1655.He was a blacksmith of Newton.

John 's wife was Anne and she leaves a Will in 1660/1 mentioning granddaughter's Elizabeth and Mary d of son  Richard.
other children youngest son John,Anne ,Henry.
There are lots of other bequests whose relationship she does not explain.

Anne wife of Richard  was buried 11.7.1662
Anne wife  of John 1811.1742
Elizabeth 25.7.1730 widow
