where Can I find sign up papers etc..
« on: Friday 09 November 18 10:31 GMT (UK) »
I have the details of my second cousin who died in world war 2 but only of his death. I’m struggling to find ANYTHING On ancestry.co.uk about him at all, very poor search engine on there.i found his grave on the commonwealth grave website but other than his death I’ve no info on him.
He was 14309426 Private Evan John Lloyd, born to Evan and Maggie Lloyd in Manchester. Died aged 20 in Florence, Italy serving with the North Staffordshire regiment.
Thanks in advance for any help 😊

As far as I am aware all post-1920 records are held by the MOD.  :-\

Transcriptions and NBI are merely finding aids.  They are NOT a substitute for original record entries.

Looks like it!  The one in Florence died 5 September 1944 aged 20, probably the son of EJL from WW1.

Hi all. I find I am in a similar situation. I have a would be uncle who was in the RAFVR (Canadian) lost out in the North Sea. His military record is available but I cannot get traction on his parents and/ or next of kin. Is this sort of information available, if so where and how? He is mentioned in Canadian military archives, again his next of kin etc is lacking.

Have you tried Canadian records?
Records less than 100 years old may not be readily available?
