Wolstenholme. Family
« on: Friday 09 November 18 16:48 GMT (UK) »
Can anyone help please    I am researching for a friend.   I have got a birth certificate for Charles Arthur Wolstenholme b 1892 Rotherham.   Father Henry Wolstenholme. Mother Elizabeth Nash. In the 1911 census  the family are in Rotherham.  There are 2 other sons Samuel and Frederick.  age. 20 and 16 Father Henry. Wolstenholme is 58. Mother’s name is Kate age 39 born at Burton Nottinghamshire. Is this a “ pet “ name for Elizabeth or is Kate the boys stepmother I would appreciate help to unravel this .   Thank you Tineke

Can't readily spot Frederick's birth registration - GRO facility.

1891 - Rotherham - Samuel Wolstenholme - mmn = Nash
Transcriptions and NBI are merely finding aids.  They are NOT a substitute for original record entries.

There is a marriage entry - December quarter 1909 - Sheffield - where William Henry Wolstenholme and Kate Layden appear on the same page.

Forget that - Kate marries George Linkhorn, and William Henry (a bachelor) marries Beatrice Rise. Price.

Yes, but the only problem with that, is why would the couple state they had been married 20 years and had 3 children, if Henry married as a Widower?

Maybe they were not in fact married and the info given in 1911 was just for convenience/propriety?
