London Scottish 2/14 Battalion in October 1918

Hi,

Might seems like a long shot but I've discovered earlier this year, that my 2x great Uncle James Stewart was killed in action in the Flanders (not sure if France or Belgium but I'm sticking with the latter). He was with London Scottish and died on 14th October 1918. He's buried in Derry House Cemetery 2 near Ypres.

I was wondering if anyone know any information about what his battalion was doing that day and whereabouts they were roughly that fateful day.

Also I'd appreciate if anyone could tell me if it would be possible to get a photo of him (if it was taken by the british Army when he first enlisted) from London Scottish Museum or IWM? My family has no photo of him and this year was the first time we learned of his death.

Date Range: 01 June 1918 – 31st August 1919

Description: This Diary covers the history of the 2nd Battalion from when they returned from Palestine and re-joined the war on the Western Front, through the last 100 days through Belgium and then their work after the armistice based in Etaples.   This volume has been digitised and is available to download for a fee:

The army did not routinely photo recruits. Personally I have found the London Scottish Museum does not respond to emails and there is restricted opening (by appointment only).

The action on 14 October has a detailed account.  It took place just to the west of Ypres.  On the link below, the battalion's objective was the road line running from Quest Farm (in the middle of the map) up to the road junction in square Q17 c.
