Help needed to find Regt Walter Anderson served in, please.

Trying to help someone trace what Regt. their Grandfather served in during WW1
His name was Walter Anderson born Everton 12/03/1889 birth registered  only as Walter no other Christian Names in June 1889 West Derby Vol 8b page 256
Mother's Maiden  Name = Bewsher (known to be a Margaret)
He lived at  35 Baltic Street and survived the War to raise a Family.
It is assumed he would have joined the Liverpool Kings Regt as did his younger Brother.
But there is only one Walter Anderson shown on the Kings Devereux database  =
Pte Walter Anderson no. 016698  but someone said he died 1918
  but I can't find that death, so it could be him.
His younger Brother William James Anderson born Sept 1891 West Derby Vol 8b page 282    joined the 19th PALS then 2 /10 as no.9271 ,then xfrd  to 1/10 Liverpool Scottish
then S/44106 of 6 btn Gordon Highlanders
Their Father was Scottish.
Anyone any ideas how we can trace Walter's Regt.?

That's a big assumption!
If he signed up at the start of hostilities, then he was very likely serving in his regiment of choice.

If he signed up later (conscription, for example) he would have been allocated to any regiment short numbered.

2 of my relatives, from Bath and Wiltshire, served in the Welsh Regiment and the Worcestershire Regiment!

There appears to be, as you have found, no more KLR Walter Andersons but an awful lot in other regiments, none that I find with West Derby connections.

Can anyone help find Medals Card and attestation for his younger Brother above.
Who also has a Service no. 032111
Are they all the same person ?
Also do medals show the Rank at the time of the award (e.g. Pte.)
or at the end of the Service (e.g. Sgt.)

Your query is a tad confusing.  Ancestry has the medal card for Private William James Anderson (written as William Anderson) with the numbers you give, shows British War and Victory Medals.

The only record I find with the number 032111 is a William McGrath of the AOC.

As stated before, there are many Walter Andersons but none found with West Derby connections.

Medal roll records for the 1914 or the 1914/1915 Star show the rank held when the man qualified  for it.  The British War and Victory rolls show the highest rank achieved in overseas service.
