Children Living/Died 1911 Census
« on: Saturday 24 November 18 15:09 GMT (UK) »
On the face of it the numbering  children born alive/living/died in 1911 census is odd.
However I looked on our immediate Robson family.
Thomas Robson & Matilda Robson lived in Felling ,Windy Nook area of Gateshead.
By 1911 the children count was 10/8/2.
I had 8 living......Found twins Margaret & Ellen b & d June 1894. Sad to find the only twins in the line.
One twin lived 10 hours & the other 1 day. Prematurity
Sad part of family history but I dare say something never really talked about.

What did you find odd about the numbering?

10/8/2 seems to correspond well with what you have found.
Hinchliffe - Huddersfield Wiltshire
Burroughs - Arlingham Glos
Pick - Frocester Glos

The twins were born alive so are included in the 10 children born alive.  They died so there were 8 living children plus 2 deaths - 10 - 8 - 2 which is correct

It’s not very clear but are you saying that until you saw the 1911 you were unaware of the twins births?

What I'm saying is that the idea of it on a census is odd.
It is useful for us now.
Sad finding nevertheless
