Etsell family of Newnham

Looking for information about the Etsell family who were living in Newnham in 1881.  George Etsell was a baker, and had a confectionery business there.

Please post all details you have from the 1881 cencus, I tried to find George in 1881 but i cant find one living in Newnham

May have misled you here.    The information came from the familysearch website and lists George Etsell age 39 living at Bakers Road, Eastbourne with his family, however he moved to Newnham at some point after that date, presumably with his his wife Catherine and children George Thomas, Fanny Louisa, William and Frances.  Frances was married at Newnham Church in 1906.  Some of them will probably be on the 1901 for Newnham, which I don't have.

Thanks very much, Joe.  This will be a great help.  It's interesting to see that George Etsell junior moved to Evesham.  Still, Newnham's a small place, perhaps there wasn't room for two bakers there.

Hi. Not sure whether anyone still sees this - George Thomas Etsell and Annie Sophia were my great grandparents. I’ve just discovered this thread whilst bringing my 81 year old mum to Evesham for a trip down memory lane. We just walked around Evesham spotting sites she remembers from her childhood and we were looking for George Etsell Juniors bakery, which she remembers being on a corner of the ‘4 corners of hell’. Would love to make contact if you know any more Gill! 😊

Hello Nickywahwah and welcome to RootsChat.  The Etsell family were related to an adopted relative of mine who was searching for his birth family.  He was descended from George jnr's daughter Frances (Fanny) and her husband William Mulgrue.

When you have posted 3 messages on this site I will be able to send you more details via a Private Message.  In the meantime I will look out what information I have on the Etsell family - it's a while since I did this bit of research (2005) as you can see, so it's filed away somewhere, but I did at that time make contact with another descendant of Fanny, and also visited Newnham, where George senior lived and where she was married, as I was living nearby at the time.

As it's someone else's family I'd rather do this by a private message or even by email if there are attachments, but don't send me your email address yet, as this has to be done in a private message.
