Croston Parish Lookups Samuel Sherrington marriage

Hi

I am trying to find the marriage of Samuel Sherrington and Mary who had a son James baptised in the parish of Croston in March 1795. I would also like to find the baptism of Samuel possibly c1770.

Have you tried www.lancs-opc.org.uk. There are transcriptions for St Michael & All Angels

many thanks for your kind help, I checked the Online records and found the marriage of James Sherrington and Mary Thompson in 1782 in Croston, But no births for either James or Mary or any Banns records for that time which might have given me a clue to where they came from/Kind Regards

Hi David

Your post says you are looking for a Samuel Sherrington marriage/baptism - not James.  I’ve just had a look on Lancs OPC myself but can’t find one nor a possible baptism for Samuel around 1770 or before

Original parish record of marriage on FindMyPast - however, it simply says that he was a husbandman, and that both were of that parish (Croston).   Both made their mark, witnesses Peter Butler and Robert Farington (both signed and were regular witnesses to marriages it seems).

James juniors baptism 1795 Croston states (of Mawdesley).

James Sherrington bc.1756 (age 64) bur.18/7/1820 Croston - residence Mawdesley. (can't find a burial for Mary at Croston).

Hi. Are your certain Samuel is the correct first name?

There is a James born in 1795 but had James as his father and Mary mother on Lancs OPC (See below).

James Sherrington - Son of James Sherrington & Mary
    Born: 19 Feb 1795
    Abode: Mawdesley
    Occupation: Labourer
    Register: Baptisms 1792 - 1812, Page 17, Entry 4
