lookup request marriage Philippe Win(d)ley and Ann ?

Hi all,

looking desperately for the marriage of Philip Win(d)ley and probably Ann....
Philip born 1694 Roxwell Essex. Father John, mother Elizabeth
Marriage unknown
Children (mother stated as Ann): Thomas 1724, Philip 1727, Henry 1737 (why is there a gap of 10 years ?), Sarah 1740, Ann 1740, Ann 1741 and Robert 1745. Years are years of baptism. All bapt. Roxwell Essex.


Looking for the date and place of the marriage and were there anymore children born between 1727 and 1737 (maybe in another county?).


mother of these children stated as Ann, but could this be Mary Ann or another name variant ?

John Winley married Elizabeth Elson in Writtle 2nd October, 1688. He was from Roxwell and she from Writtle.

that's right. those were the parents of Philip.
I also have the names of Philips siblings (8 in total)
but so far no marriage or date of death/burial

They are my 7x great grandparents. I’ve never managed to find a marriage for them, despite searching through all the local parish records online.

Philip was buried 25th Jan 1771. Not found a burial for Ann.

Was he burried in Roxwell ?

Isn't it strange that you can't find the marriage anywhere ?

one more question Nannyj:

As you know Philip and Ann had a son also called Philip. When did he die and where ?
Because I have the date of 25 January 1771 as the sons date of burial not the father (married to Ann).

I’ll have a look but the Phillip who is buried in Roxwell 1771 says Phillip senior.

Although Philip 1727 also had a son Philip!

ok thank you. yes, it is confusing: 3 x Philip in a row !

I couldn’t find a death for Phillip 1727 and I looked in roxwell right up to 1830 when he’d have been over 100.
His wife Mary man died 1810 aged 85 in the workhouse at roxwell.
