Grandfather's WW2 records
« on: Sunday 09 December 18 21:10 GMT (UK) »
Hi,

My father has finally got around to getting my grandfather's WW2 records sent to him. Being ex military I've been able to help him from a distance with dechipering the information, however there is one bit I'm not too sure on..

Any help or pointers would be much appreciated.

Thankyou

Pete

Welcome to rootschat Pete. I can't help you I'm afraid but I'm sure others will be able to.

In order to help you I think they will probably want a bit more information from you though, specifically the context of the image you posted. Maybe posting another image of the entire page might help. :)

I hope someone will be able to solve this for you.

Haha, I think a lot of them were naughty boys!  ;)

There are some excellent helpers here on the Armed Forces board - I'm sure one, or more, of them will be along to help you soon.  :)

It is almost certainly some sort of administrative check box that doesn't "mean" anything in terms of the man's service.  It has been initialled twice which again looks like some sort of check, perhaps for his documents arriving at the new posting.  The "CV" may well be an erudite clerk using latin characters for 105 Regiment to which he is posted.  I would say it can be safely ignored.

I am Zoe Northeast, granddaughter of Maximilian Double.

It is with great difficulty I share with you that in the early hours of 07 August 2021, Maximilian passed away unexpectedly but peacefully.

With deep sadness,
Zoe
