John Barclay Age 70 on 1891 Census at 136 Ystrad Road ,Clydach .Rhondda.

 Where and when did he die ?

Have you not looked on freebmd to at least get the year and quarter when he died?

You will note his birth years in 1871/1881 are several years different to 1891

There is a death on freebmd that is probably him but age is way out.  However - if you check earlier censuses - there is no other match in Glamorgan

Yes Carole I have.  All spellings 9 of them too. No joy unless I missed it which is possible. I hope someone has some better insight than me.

Sorry - meant to say 1893.  1891 he is in the Pontypridd RD as is the death

Yeah as you say way out . 60 years old.
He was born in 1821. I might order a cert .

I've had a good look through the 1891 and there is no other likely match in Glamorgan to a birth year of 1833.

My great grandfather was 75 when he died but his daughter gave his age as 65 when she registered his death.
