Interesting though that she named father as George and also said he was an Clerk in an Attorney’s office.  Makes me wonder if he was the father of those children too. Where was he in 1841?

And why did they go to London to marry?

Obit for G.E. says he came to Cheltenham in 1838 from Tewkesbury.

that had struck me too that he could have fathered the children out of wedlock and different names were used...maybe he was not free to marry her?  Anything is possible.  London is an oddity through and might suggest running away to get married if we not reading too deep into it.   Can't see him obviously in 1841 ..there are that many George Williams'  :D

newspaper report from 1 July 1841 gives his address as 2 North Parade.  Will have a look on 1841 for that address and see what it turns up....funny how the editor of the newspaper is called Mr Cox...
