Can this be cleaned up? Thomas Bewick, and his wife Eliza Bewick
« on: Sunday 23 December 18 04:58 GMT (UK) »
I have been given a photo of a kerb gravestone, but I cannot make out what it says. The grave contains Thomas Bewick, and his wife Eliza Bewick.

Thomas died 22 May 1927, and Eliza 29 Jan 1923.

On the opposite side if the kerbing, it is possible to read "Thomas Bewick. Died 22nd May 1927

I am hoping that the kerb says "Eliza Bewick Died 29 January 1923, but I cannot make it out.

Is it possible for the brilliant restorers to clean it up sufficiently for me to read what is written there.

I realise that the photo is not high quality, but it was emailed to me by a very generous person from Darlington

I've had a go but can't get anything out of it. It looks like ET when I enlarge it.

Here's a snip of what I get at 600% after adjustments.

Think a definite need for a re-photograph  :-\

Thank you all for your replies.

I did have doubts about the chances, but one can but hope.

I will ask the person from the Darlington West Cemetery if it is possible to re-photo it.

In the data from the photo, it was a Konica Minolta camera which was used.

Again, many thanks for your help.
