Where is Denton Otley ?
« on: Sunday 30 December 18 19:59 GMT (UK) »
Hi  I am skirting around parish records of 1600 -1700 which is the earliest I have ever looked at. I can see that many of the people I am looking at are baptised/married/died in Otley which does give a great feeling of completing a family as far back as I want to go - am amazed that records are available fro such dates to be honest.
Some of mine though say 'Denton Otley' Has anyone any idea of where this might have been?

Transcriptions and NBI are merely finding aids.  They are NOT a substitute for original record entries.

Do look at the page BumbleB has given, and if you need to find it on a map, it's actually much closer to Ilkley than Otley. Something like 2 miles NE of Ilkley, and 5 miles NW of Otley.
Researching among others:
Bartle, Bilton, Bingley, Campbell, Craven, Emmott, Harcourt, Hirst, Kellet(t), Kennedy,
Meaburn, Mennile/Meynell, Metcalf(e), Palliser, Robinson, Rutter, Shipley, Stow, Wilkinson

Thankyou - that is all really helpful.  I had assumed that it would be part of Otley but can see now it is part of the wider parish.
