Amos Scarf(e) - c.1811 Ingatestone
« on: Sunday 30 December 18 20:29 GMT (UK) »
Hi all,

Here I am, chasing someone else's line again...serves me right for being so nosey!

I've got Amos Scarf(e)/Scarff, born - according to the 1851 census in Ingatestone, Essex.  He married Susan Johnson on 27th March 1831.

There are several children in the mix:

David Scarfe - c. 1838
Emily Sophia Scarfe - 1841
Romer? Scarfe - 1841 (listed as 10 in 1851)

Rosina is another daughter, born March quarter 1844, district Braintree.

I'm looking for any information about Amos - baptism, parents, etc.  Anything would be gratefully received!

Many thanks,

Emma ;)

1861 has ben transcribed as Stratford but in the original it looks more like Shalford.
Susan shown as born in Ballingdon, which is now part of Sudury, Suffolk but historically was in Essex.

Where were they marrried? (Have now seen the marriage in Belchamp Walter)

1851 has him born at ingatestone and Susan still born in ballington. Elusive chappie!
No birth for him around the time in shalford. I think it might say Stratford on the 1861 ... the l is different on the other place names to the l that would be in shalford? Then again my glasses probably do need changing!

P.s. nothing in Ingatestone!
Jamiesons, Martins and McGonigals of Coleraine, Londonderry
and
Cullens, Grahams and Challenors of Dublin county and city.
