David Robert, c 1852, Coity
« on: Tuesday 01 January 19 13:08 GMT (UK) »
In 1861 at ref Piece: 4077; Folio: 31; Page: 6 I have the Jenkin family. (also recorded as Jenkins)

Included in the census is David Robert, Grandson, 9, Coity. (I'm assuming Robert is the surname as I've not found a record for a David Robert Jenkin(s)).

I cannot tie him into the Jenkin family and any pointers would be appreciated.

Interesting as the MMN on the GRO birth index* is recorded as Roberts. I was wondering if it could be the daughter, Ann's (b.c. 1829) son. On the 1851 at 2361/582/23 but doesn't look like it.  Have you got any other info on Ann?

Non-conf: Quite possibly. Several of the siblings were baptised on the Bridgend Congregational Circuit.

Another possible?  Masons Arms Bryncethin

Thomas Morgan    55 - innkeeper and mason
Jennet Morgan    34 - b Coity
Jennet Morgan    9
Mary Morgan    7
Jane Morgan    2
David Roberts    17 - b Coity, coal miner

RG10, 5412, 35, 37

Jennet is a daughter of Morgan and Mary Jenkins - she married in 1860 so David may have been left with her parents?

Jennet is a good bet.

If he was the illegitimate son of Jennet (or Ann), why the surname Robert?
Be nice to see some record  ::)
