Cannot browse Ancestry using safari on my Mac
« on: Thursday 03 January 19 14:43 GMT (UK) »
Just had a prompt support response to my query about Safari not working with Ancestry on my iMac. Their reply is:

"It appears that a change was made to Safari that is causing issues for some Ancestry users. Ancestry is aware of this issue and is trying to address it."

Everything works OK with Firefox!
Thomas, Davies, Jones, Walters, Daniel in Carmarthenshire and Ceredigion. That should narrow it down a bit!
Vincent: Fressingfield, Suffolk, Stockton & Sunderland.
Murtha/Murtaugh: Dundalk & Sunderland
Ingram: Cairnie by Huntly, Scotland then Abergavenny, Monmouthshire.
Bardouleau: London - in memory of my stepmother Annie Rose née Bardouleau who put up with a lot from me.

I hardly ever use Safari on my Mac. I don't like it.

I stick to Firefox on both my Mac and my PCs.

That’s different! It used to be that FindMyPast wouldn’t work on an earlier version of Safari but they eventually sorted that.

This seems to have been / remains an ongoing more recent problem accessing Ancestry, using Safari -  web designers are meant to check out compatibility with different browsers whereas  I was informed that I needed additional browsers - not a very helpful remark as I was also experiencing  the same problems with Firefox. Meanwhile my sub has run out and I am reluctant to renew it without more positive  and helpful feedback guaranteeing access to all of Ancestry's available services !

I have the same problem many time. I have to clear the cache then it works ok. Must admit it’s mostly when I have been doing quite a lot of searches. I must get a life!!! Lol

“Try a different browser” is the usual solution (next to turning it off and on again) for anything that doesn’t work on a computer.

All I can say is that Safari continues to work fine, almost daily, with t’interweb that we get in this neck of the woods. Trouble is that computers, software, websites and t’interweb have far too many variables to be able to diagnose a problem from afar.
