Coroners inquest report October 1960
« on: Thursday 03 January 19 21:35 GMT (UK) »
Hello, I am wondering if anyone can advise where I can find a link to locate a Coroners Inquest report from a Coroner in Lancashire that was issued in October 1960. I have the certified copy of an entry of death which gives the date of the inquest as October 10 and the Coroners name as W. Blackhurst. The report was registered October 12, 1960.

Thank you in advance!
Bonny

There are no records of coroners’ inquests available to view online. Have you tried British Newspapers to see if they have a report of the inquest ?

Thanks Sandra, no I haven't yet but will do a search there once I find the link. I just received this certificate in the mail today from England. I was hoping to get an informant's name in case that would help out with our brick wall on our Power family but we did get confirmation on a cause of death.

Hi Sandra,
Yes any help is very much appreciated. His name was Joseph William Power born we think Jan 4, 1897 from the 1939 register. His death cert says he was 64 on Oct 6, 1960. I am just trying to figure out if that works out to him being born in 1897 or 1896...
We believe he was born in Ireland but can't find a birth certificate but do know he was living in Preston, Lancs in 1939 married to Gladys Loftus in 1921 in Oldham. We also know his dads name was John Power and that is all we have.
Thanks
Bonny

Thanks Sandra! Not sure if he had medals or not but with rank of PTE, I would assume he was young which fits!

Yes could be him. I have been looking for a birth record for a bit now but not much to go on.
