This is possible, but my notes from 25 years ago state that I found a record of a six year old Elizabeth on the 1861 census (and assigned a provisional birth year of 1855).

Getting old, I guess - don't recall any other details.

Brian

The 1881 census has her birth year as 1856, which would make her 5 on the 1861 census:

Thank you jonw65 and Jamjar.

I think I had Elizabeth Ann misidentified (there were several Elizabeth Parkinsons born in Lincolnshire in the mid-1850s and, lacking parental names I may have glommed on to the wrong one). But whatever happened to William S? Are Joseph Jr & William the same person? Further research...

I'm fumbling my way through the Freereg sites to access GRO & census records. So far I'm even having trouble finding what others have just found. Patience, patience...

Incidentally, Elizabeth Ann died in 1926 in the Birdtail Valley of Manitoba and is buried there in St. James Anglican Cemetery.
