Problems using FamilySearch.org
« on: Saturday 05 January 19 18:37 GMT (UK) »
I'm feeling very frustrated and hoping that someone can help!

I want to search/browse the Durham Bishops Transcripts that I know are online at FamilySearch.org.  I've looked at them before, years ago, and know I used to be able to do it quite easily.

But now I'm having real trouble.  I've created a new account in but just can't find my way around the site, and I keep getting a message saying that my browser doesn't support the website, and to update the site or install a new browser.  How on earth do I update the site?  Not sure I want to install a new browser.

I feel as though I'm going round in circles.  I can't even get to the catalogue of records.  Can  anyone help?

Edit - I've downloaded Chrome and things are looking up.  Hopefully I can get to grips with it now.

From the FamilySearch home page, click on the Search tab, choose records.  Then from the map, click on the British Isles and choose England.   Go down the page about a fifth of the way to the section called 'Image-Only Historical Records' and 'Durham Diocese Bishop's Transcripts, 1639-1919' is the first in the list.

You need to use Chrome or another browser, not Internet Explorer.

I think you may be right,  I tried all sorts with familysearch and in the end relented and went over to Chrome and it works just fine.

Thank you all!  Yes, eventually I installed Chrome, and problem solved.  Very frustrating though!

Thanks again :)
