I took a look in Norway for Christian's parents. You may of course have them already:

This looks to be his mother Walborg Elizabeth's birth record from 1850 in Halden Parish - nr 90:

I may have the father but I need to know his father's occupation according to the marriage cert from Liverpool in 1876.

Wow! Thanks for this Ian.  This certainly looks to be my G.G. Grandmothers birth listing!

According to their marriage certificate Christian (senior) was a mariner.
