Shanley Family of Mohill
« on: Wednesday 23 January 19 20:50 GMT (UK) »
I am trying to produce an 'Ancestor Chart' for my Grand Daughters.  I have my Wife's and my trees back to the late 1700's /early 1800's.  My Daughter in Law's Mothers tree back to the mid 1800's, but struggling with her Father's (deceased) family. Any help would be much appreciated.
I have gleamed most of my information from an autobiography of an 'Agnes Mary Shanley' (1929 / 2015) who's parents were Patrick Shanley (c1891 / 1960) and Agnes McGurren (McGurran) (c1894 / 1968) who married in Mohill in 1913.  Both are buried in Cloonmorris Catholic Graveyard, Mohill, Co. Leitrim, along with a Son Kevin Patrick (c1922 / 1934). Other children that I have are Christina (1925 / ?),  Ellen J. (c1932 / ?) and Kevin J. (c1935 / ?). I do not know if any are still living.
I have no parents for Patrick Shanley. The parents of Agnes McGurren I believe were Nicholas McGurren and Mary ? from Strokestown, Co. Roscommon.

I do not wish to produce a lopsided Ancestors Chart for my Grand Daughters, so any help to obtain information would be much appreciated.

Thanking you in anticipation of some news,

Listerdale.

You'll get father's names so you can look for them on census 1901/11....

The records are easy enough to use once you find first one, keep an eye out for siblings marrying etc as they very often lead to kin still alive in area.

Once you find your way around you can return as and when you want, or as new discoveries are made plus if you work back in time and have names etc you have Parish records  https://registers.nli.ie/parishes/0175
