Thank you Sue  :) it was worth a try to see if Albert or other family were with him.

Rodney i just cant find anything to comfirm whether Albert was deceased or not in 1920. I feel he wasnt and that the death in WA is him and maybe a error in his mother's death notice or some hidden reason as to why he was noted as deceased.

Many thanks, giblet and Sue.
I have yet to find him on an electoral roll with any family member. He clearly identified himself as a hewer, since this appears on his Army enlistment papers as well.
I've just received your message about whether Albert was or was not dead in 1920. I have found nothing to confirm his death by that year, except the death notice. Will buy his mother's death cert. and see if anything different is there. My family is divided about the issue ... though all views are without solid foundation, including mine.
Not an easy one, that's for sure.
Am very grateful for all your efforts.
Rodney

Oh, goodness. Just begun the process and from the registration on bdm site, her father's name is listed in error as her mother's 3rd husband (Our Harriet Williams had a fine role model for multiple husbands). An ominous start   ???

Event
Death Event registration number 4379
Registration year 1920
Personal information
Family name MEATHERINGHAM
Given names Hart
Sex Unknown
Father's name East George
Mother's name Amelia (Unknown)
Place of birth
Place of death Benalla
Age 70

My family is at times extremely flexible with the truth. George East was NOT the father of Harriet Williams, but he was husband number 3  of her mother.

Rodney.

I think it's the human condition ....

Death certificate is in: wrongly names her father as George East. Wrongly lists children as coming from two marriages, not three.

Albert Joseph is listed as dead. All other children dead at the time are identified accurately.

I'm not sure where this leaves us.

Rodney thanks for that, who is the informant on her death cert?

Not sure where this leaves us, im running out of ideas on where to check or prove he was alive in 1920.

Have tried attaching death cert. It may be too big. Official informant for all 5 death records on the page, not a family member (so we can't gun for him).
I'm inclined to think that you are right, the W.A. man is likely ours, but would be happier if something linked him clearly and directly to the family. The evidence of 1920 may well be wrong but it is what it is.
Feel free to throw up the white flag on this one. I am.
Many many thanks.
Rodney.

Attachment worked thanks. I was hoping it didn't note "dead" Like you said its possible the 1920 information is wrong.

I will have another look tomorrow, there will be information somewhere that will help, just got to find it. Hopefully  :D
