Not sure why Ancestry is doing this.

I have been on today and everything seems OK.

Hope you sort the problem out soon perhaps you could give them a phone.

Hope you sorted this out by now but if not: Click on Find Person, then List of all people.  That will show up any duplicated people, click on one of them, then Tools then Merge with duplicate.  You can check all the info and then merge.

Happened to me yesterday.

Driving me crazy that father was married twice to the same lady, and vice versa, and had two children with the same name born at the same time followed by a further two a year or so later. Looking at either the father or the mother there were two spouses and four children, instead of one and two.

I tried merging them but they weren't actually duplicates to merge, merely represented twice.

In the end I think I deleted one 'duplicate' wife, the rest of the family then returned to normal.

Congrats to you sugarfizzle on your 1000th post!

I had a lady on my tree marrying herself, twice!  I think it happened when I tried to link her marriage shown on the England Marriages index to her Facts. Deleted that and just did Marriage entry manually and typed in what I knew from the Parish Register.

I think the duplicate who isn't a duplicate problem can come about if you have two different marriage facts for what is actually the same marriage.  Easy to do when you have multiple sources - pr, bt, gro, banns.  Attach all of the sources to one marriage fact (for both husband and wife if necessary), making sure you specify the spouse it relates to, and then delete the spare marriage.  Hopefully problem solved.

I think that's what I did in the end, Jane, your explanation makes complete sense to my befuddled brain. ;)
