Bower family, Hunslet, Leeds.

Hi all, I'm looking for information regarding the Bower family from Hunslet, Leeds, Yorkshire, during the 1700 to 1800s. I know they owned Glass houses and possibly a chemical works. Any Info would be greatly appreciated! Thanks.

In addition have you tried the on line newspapers? You would think there would be articles or advertisements in those. From the Leodis website - it seems they weren't only conducting business in Leeds.

There is an e-book - the William White Directory of 1837 which shows a couple of entries for them - with the name of the particular member of the Bower family and the address.

In addition someone has laboriously transcribed the 1829 Pigot's Leeds Directory onto the Genuki website and the entries for your family are;

There may be older directories somewhere.
