Joseph Richardson
« on: Wednesday 06 February 19 03:19 GMT (UK) »
Hello,
I'm looking for Joseph RICHARDSON supposedly born C1791 Carleton.  Married Mary LITTLE supposedly Newtown, Carlisle.  This information from a death certificate only.  They both died in Wakefield, Nelson, NZ.  Parents maybe Thomas RICHARDSON/Mary IRWIN.

Joseph & Mary known to be in South Australia with daughter Margaret Ann Richardson 1852.

Thanks for any suggestions.

Cheers Gwyneth

Hi Colin,

Many thanks for your response.  I have the baptism from the BT's on Family Search and not much else.  I know death certs are notoriously wrong at times, but his wife was still alive when he died at home which gives me a little hope it's right. I am on Ancestry/Find my Past etc.  However they all have the same records.  May I ask please if you know of any other records for Charleton/Newto(w)n in the Irthington area?  Of course he/she may have been convicts, married in Australia or anywhere else for that matter.  There is a Joseph/Mary with many children including Margaret in Crossthwaite, however it is not Mary Little.  And another Joseph/Mary in Lancashire which is tantalising however again quite a few children and to my knowledge they only had Margaret Ann.

I have a Joseph/Mary arriving Adelaide on the 'Sir Allen McNab' C1850, also on board but listed separately are Sarah and Margaret Richardson.  I searched everywhere for a Sarah to no avail.

Any suggestions?  Thanks & Cheers Gwyneth

May I ask please if you know of any other records for Charleton/Newto(w)n in the Irthington area.

Carlton isn’t in the irthington area and although there is a very small village called Newtown not far from Irthington, there is also an area in Carlisle called Newtown. Is there a reason why you think it may be Irthington? There is a church in Irthington.

There are a number of Richardson's & Little's on www.freereg.org.uk but sadly not the ones you are looking for.

Lancashire records on A……y

Margaret Ann Richardson & Sarah Richardson both baptised 25/12/1833 Liverpool, St Peter Lancashire
Jane Richardson baptised 28 Sep 1834
Joseph Richardson, a Labourer & Mary Richardson, abode Parr St. Liverpool

There are others around that time but different occupation & abode

No trace of the 1841 census?

Not on the 1851 census in UK luckily.

There's a Joseph Richardson, 45, Labourer, and Mary Richardson, 45, in Walton On The Hill (township Everton) in 1841, with them are Mary Richardson, 15, and Margaret Richardson, 5. Says all not NBC. Margaret's age doesn't really tie up with that baptism though.
