There are Ellen Bergins in Kilkenny in 1901 and 1911, where we didn't find any Ellen Berrigans.

Thank you oldohiohome and heywood for all your hard work.  This morning I see the birth returns.  I know much info is written down wrongly in those days so that maybe the case with surname.  Where it shows Residence of Informant 'Black Mill St', I've come across that address before and I see the name above Ellen has the same place and name - could this be a doctors or hospital do you think?  I will see today if any of that info rings any bells with my friend.
I got very excited when I read of the man having the accident on train but alas don't think it was the right person.  He worked on trams and was killed in a tram accident (that's the story anyway) he was an Inspector.  His wife in Ireland received a pension until he died in Boston.  I will look on Roots US as you recommended, I hadn't thought of that.

Thank you also hallmark for your hard work.  If the name was shortened to Bergin this could be her again.  I'm trying to get in touch with my friend to see what she thinks of that.

Not sure now re the Ellen I posted.

There is a marriage in 1929 - Ellen, daughter of John, a Labourer
https://civilrecords.irishgenealogy.ie/churchrecords/images/marriage_returns/marriages_1929/09056/5276508.pdf

I had wondered if perhaps Ellen was married before her marriage to James Reilly but as there is a possible birth in 1928, it would rule out my theory of the above marriage. I hope you can follow that. :)
