St Mary's Heworth Burials 1895

My grandfathers first wife died tragically after being run over by a locomotive at Felling Colliery on Saturday 27 October 1895. Her inquest took place on the Monday and my parish extract says she was buried at St Marys Heworth that day. I am trying to find where her grave was.. Quite possible she had no headstone in view of the speed of internment, but where do I start? I have tried burial inscription site but there is no Margaret Smith b 1871 d 27 10 1895 to be found. Would there still exist a master directory of burial plots?

I would start by contacting the church in question.  As you have her name and date of death they should be able to advise further.

However it does say this on the website:-

Only current burial records are held at the church, historic records are lodged with the Durham County Archives. 

I would therefore suggest that you contact Durham Archives.

Girl Guide, if you return to this thread before the moderators see it, you need to remove the churchwarden's name and contact details.

A link to the church website would be fine, but as they don't have the records it probably wouldn't help.
