Roach Family Search
« on: Thursday 07 February 19 15:21 GMT (UK) »
Hi everyone.

I have tried on & off for years to try & find marriage & birth info related to my GG grandparents, all to no avail. Just wondering if someone may be able to help me?

The little I have is from census' plus one marriage cert. Info as follows:-

William Roach born 1805c in Cork. Ag lab.
Married Ann ? born 1820c from Tipperary. Possible year 1838? (looking for marriage details please)
There first child Caroline born 1838c (looking for birth cert please) The early Kent census says she was born in Ireland, later census says Crayford?

The 1861 census for Crayford Kent has William & Ann boarding with their daughter Caroline & her husband George Butler who married in 1859 in Crayford.

If anyone could shed any light on this please I would be most grateful.
Many thanks
Liz

Bear in mind they may not have married at all but if they had children in England after Sep 1838 you can look up their birth registration to find mothers maiden name.

What other children did they have?
Hinchliffe - Huddersfield Wiltshire
Burroughs - Arlingham Glos
Pick - Frocester Glos

Hi.
I have looked many times for the birth record of Caroline in Crayford but nothing comes up.
I don't know of any other children born to William & Ann. Sorry.

Oh that's a shame  :(

I can't see Caroline born Kent either.  Are they in England in 1841/1851?

1861 has a sister Eliza Butler age 9 born Kent but I suppose she was a sister of George not Caroline so that won't help  :-\

I have just re-checked the census' & in 1861 William & Ann link only to Caroline. In 1871 William & Ann are alone aged 65 & 50.
Hope this helps?

birth certs started 1864
Give a man a record and you feed him for a day.
Teach a man to research, and you feed him for a lifetime.

So they should be on a census in Ireland prior to 1861 then.  But probably won't help unless it gives the name of other children that came to England we might be able to trace forward.
