James Alexander and Janet Campell of Kilmarnook
« on: Friday 08 February 19 01:06 GMT (UK) »
Hello, I am trying to find any info on James Alexander and his wife , Janet Campbell .  Janet was born abt 1813, I have no birth year for James.    James was associated with the Associated Congregation of Kilmarnook , ( i believe he left that church in 1829)   Janet was from the United Secession Church of Kilmarnook, and left that church in 1830.     They left for USA and settled in Connecticut, John was a weaver.     I am also trying to find info on Janets sister, Isabella, who was born abt 1810. She also left for the USA in 1848 with her husband John McArthur, and 4 sons,

Any help would be greatly appreciated,  Thanks,Bert

www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk for Scottish records.

No marriage in Ayrshire but two elsewhere, the first being more likely, unless they were in the USA by then?

ALEXANDER JAMES   JANET CAMPBELL    30/06/1840   Greenock Old or West, Renfrewshire
ALEXANDER JAMES   JANET CAMPBELL   25/03/1839   Rerrick, Kirkcudbright

Colin, was this supposed to be on one of the existing MacArthur threads?
Never trust anything you find online (especially submitted trees and transcriptions on Ancestry, MyHeritage, FindMyPast and other commercial web sites) unless it's an image of an original document - and even then be wary because errors can and do occur.
