Emma Bignell and Joseph James
« on: Monday 11 February 19 03:14 GMT (UK) »
Hi, would any one know if Emma Bignell born 1878 in Northfleet Kent and died (I think) in Billericey Essex in 1924 had any children. She married Joseph James in 1896 in Strood Kent he was born in 1875 in St Olave London and died in 1910. Have been looking for ages. Thank you Carol.

Have you Emma in 1911?

I don’t see any James births with MMN Bignell in GRO indexes, but it is the sort of name that may have alternate spellings.

It looks as though they may have had a double wedding with James James and Alvinea Eastwood Breeds at Chalk, Kent on 2 March 1896 (or married very close in time to that).  At any rate Joseph James and Emma Bignell (who made her mark) witnessed that marriage.  One imagines the bridegrooms were related to each other and the brides (with the Eastwood name link) possibly also related to each other.

James James was 21, a general dealer of Northfleet, son of John James, shoemaker.

Alvinea was 20, a spinster of Northfleet, daughter of John Breeds, general dealer.

Thank you everyone, I did get Joseph's name wrong. I did know that Emma and Joseph married on the same day as his Brother James. James and Alvina are my Gt Grandparents. I know that James and Alivina had 16 children! I wanted to know if Emma and Joseph did. Carol.
