As a WW2 airman his records are still held by the RAF and would have to be applied (and paid) for;

https://www.gov.uk/get-copy-military-service-records

However, is the record you quote the only evidence you have for him?  AIR 78 has Roy Edgar Ball with the number you quote.  This has a note saying now "Martin".  There is also a Roy Edward Ball with a different service number. I haven't looked for R E Ball which may be there also.  Can you distinguish which one is yours?  You don't have to know his number as long as you have his date of birth and his death cert so it is as well to be clear, if the system can't match the date of birth with the service number, it tends to grind to a halt.

In the photo he is a Warrant Officer Air Gunner could be called Master Gunner. I don't know when the rank altered but that's a normal Warrant Officer's badge and might mean he became a Warrant Officer after he stopped being an AG but he would retain his AG brevet.

 His service number may be on his wedding cert..

It is Roy Edgar Ball then Martin.

I dont have anything of them apart from the pic. It gets quite complicated with him for there is no record of who his father is, I have his mothers details but that’s it. Thanks for the help

The "Martin" would seem to be confirmation that you have the right name and number.  Take a look at the application process, particularly at the next of kin element.  If I am reading it correctly, he became your grandfather  so your parents, if alive, would be the next of kin, if not then you as grandchild.  You have his number so the date of birth need not be on the form but you do need his death cert (and £30).

Outside of RAF records then Facebook???

I haven’t a clue on the status of my mother due to not having any contact with her in a very long time. , I’m the only one left basically.  I don’t have any copy’s of any certificates,

Any suggestions on what I could search for in finding his squadron
