Stuck how to find a Russian Polish birth/ marriage record

I’m stuck with tracing both of my paternal grandmothers.

Alice fischmann ( on some records it’s  noted as fisherman)  1896- 1965. Married Barnet Vigdor 1915 and  lived in Leeds.
 For what I have been told she was born in Russia and had a brother. 

Then Iv got

Dora Vigdor 1868 - 1960. Married to Simon Vigdor ( bonchik) also lived in Leeds but no clue to what her maiden name is. Also born in Russia / Poland
There on the 1911 uk census but that’s it.

Yes that’s one of my cousins. She has nothing on Dora or Alice and for some reason unbeknown to me won’t help or give me any info. Thanks.

they married in the Zionist Synagogue in Brunswick Street , Leeds during WW1 in 1915
looks like 10 children - they were obviuosly Jewish - but I think Fisherman is an Anglcised version of her original name .
do you have her on any census returns ??
the Russian version  of Alice is Annca -Annkie - have a look for an Annca in Leeds in 1901 census ?

Yes they are Jewish.

I have Alice ( Fischmann) Fisherman Vigdor on the 1939 census with Dora Vigdor listed there as well.
I have Dora Vigdor on the 1911 census but that’s it.

I would have thought there is somewhere in Leeds with the records of the 10 children - if they were registered in the Synagogue - their mothers Russian surname will be on the records log - The Jewish Community are supremely well noted for their dedication of precise records - are you anywhere near Leeds ?

was Moldovia owned by the Russian Federation in mid 1800's ??
there is an interesting record of a
Stroul Fischmann b in 1874 in Cornat,Moldovia ,Russian Federation ..father Aaron Fischmann .so if in England would they say born Russia - or Moldovia ?
on geneanet there are only 6 records of Fischmann from Russian Federation

Thank you but I started off on JewishGen with no luck. No trace of them before 1911.
