Victoria, Where was William H(arry) BUXEY, born in 1851 buried 1911
« on: Sunday 17 February 19 06:43 GMT (UK) »
Hi

I have various Buxey postings in the UK forum but have just come across a William H Buxey buried in Victoria at Springvale Crematorium in 1911.  Although I couldn't find his grave.

What I have found out that he was quite possibly a chiropodist in Fitzroy and later advertised as being appointed to Governor General Brassey.  He died intestate so there were no pointers there.

How would I go about finding if he is one of my British Buxeys?  I tried Passenger Lists as a look up on Forebears thinking that he might have been on a passenger list in approximately 1871 as he is down on his burial details as being born 1851.

Any pointers much appreciated.

If you buy his death certificate it should tell you where he was born - or at least what country.  Also should tell you how long in Victoria if he came from overseas -  then you could try tracing him via the ten yearly censuses in UK.

If born about 1851, it is possible he could have been born in Victoria.

Thanks Wivenhoe, Cando and Wiggy.

I'm going to follow up the FreeBMD lead and re the gravesite, I couldn't find a grave for William H Buxey on the day I went.  The other grave numbers ARE the same as his, but different
"Compartments" so will follow up with crematorium admin.  Victoria's BMD are back on line again soon so might just get that birth certificate.

May I ask which birth certificate you are going to purchase from Vic BDM?
